Dr Wood Co-Authors Article on Respiratory Surveillance in Mineral Dust-Exposed Workers

Health-Surveillance

Dr Clare Wood has co-authored an article on the resurgence of coal workers’ pneumoconiosis and silicosis in Queensland. This article published by the European Respiratory Society looks at the role respiratory surveillance has on the early diagnosis of pneumoconiosis and silicosis in workers. “Best practice prevention includes reduction of exposure to mineral dusts or, ideally, prevention of exposure altogether. However, where dust exposure has occurred, respiratory surveillance can provide a strategy for early disease detection”.
